Your first visit

Three steps, no commitment

  1. 1

    Come as you are

No uniform, no signup, no cost. Walk in a few minutes before we start and someone will meet you at the door.

  2. 2

    Meet leaders and families

Parents get a relaxed overview of the year while Scouts jump straight into games with kids their own grade.

  3. 3

    Try an activity, ask anything

Your Scout tries a real den activity. You ask every question you have — cost, time, camping, all of it.

Family campouts

Sleep under the stars — even if you've never camped

Two to three weekends a year the whole Pack heads outdoors together. Experienced families help first-timers with tents and gear, and our packing checklist covers exactly what to bring.

Pinewood Derby

Build it together, race it together

Our biggest night of the year starts with a block of pine and a parent-and-Scout workbench. Everyone races, everyone cheers, and nobody needs a workshop at home.

What we do

Adventure Starts Here

Pack 79 packs the year with the kinds of experiences kids remember for a lifetime — and the skills that help them grow into capable, kind, confident people.

  • Camping

Family campouts under the stars, two to three weekends a year — tents, campfires, and s'mores included.

  • Pinewood Derby

Design, build, and race your own wooden car in our biggest pack event of the year.

  • Outdoor Activities

Hikes, nature walks, biking, and whittling for older Scouts — fresh air is our classroom.

  • Community Service

Scouts give back through service projects that help our Charlotte neighbors.

  • Sports Outings

Pack nights with the Charlotte Knights and Charlotte Checkers — cheer together as a group.

  • STEM & Nature

Hands-on experiments, astronomy nights with telescopes, and exploring the natural world.

  • Advancement

Age-appropriate adventures and rank badges that grow with your Scout from kindergarten up.

  • And much more

Raingutter Regatta, den adventures, and seasonal traditions throughout the program year. Explore activities
